Abstract
Anti-idiotype antibody (AId or Ab2) is an antibody raised against the variable region of an original antibody. Based on the characteristics of AId, it could be used for (1) substituting a virulent hapten as standard sample to develop innocuous immunoassay, (2) designing novel immunoassay models, especially noncompetitive model, to improve the performance of traditional immunoassay, and (3) developing multitargets immunoassay. The difficulties inherent in anti-idiotype antibody generation are limiting factors for its wide applications, but antibody library technology may be utilized to circumvent this problem.
