Abstract

Nano-composite fluorescence with silica shell was prepared by improving Stöber route. The precursor was obtained via chemical reaction of fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) and 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTEOS). The controlled hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) leaded to the formation of organic-inorganic nano-composites fluorescent. The image of transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the nano-composites with a diameter of approximately 70 nm were uniform, spherical and monodispersed. The nano-composites fluorescence significantly reduced dye leaching and had strong fluorescence when they were washed by water for several times. Green fluorescence was observed by laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM) from the bovine scrum albumin (BSA) labeled with fluorescent nano-composites.
