Abstract
▶ Gas-phase F− ions react readily with Ge(OEt)4 to yield the hypervalent FGe(OEt)4−. ▶ FGe(OEt)4− undergoes facile IRMPD through three different channels. ▶ Sequential IRMPD processes are observed for the primary IRMPD products. ▶ Isomeric germanate and germyl anions can be distinguished by their proton affinity. ▶ IRMPD allows for the gas-phase synthesis of novel oxy-germanium ions.
