Present paper reports calculations of total ionization cross sections (Qion) for simple but important alcohols (CH3OH, C2H5OH, 1-C3H7OH) on electron impact with incident energies (Ei) ranging from ionization threshold (I) of the target to 2 keV. We have employed well established Spherical Complex Optical Potential (SCOP) formalism to evaluate total inelastic cross sections. We have also made an attempt to improve original Staszeweska model by considering Δ energy dependent and made to vary within the range ηI ≤ Δ(Ei) ≤ I. The total ionization cross sections are calculated using improved complex scattering potential-ionization contribution (ICSP-ic) method. The present results along with available experimental and other theoretical data are presented graphically.
