Abstract
The MS and MSn fragmentation pathways of polyamide/IDB (IDB = bis(2-benzimidazolylmethyl)amine) conjugates, which are synthesized as potent artificial nucleases, are discussed. The main fragmentation pathways occur by the cleavage of the CCO bonds between N-methylpyrrole and carbonyl groups. Electrospray ionization is proven to be a good method for the structural characterization and identification of this kind of compounds.
