Microwave-assisted green oxidation of alcohols with hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by iron complexes with nitrogen ligands

The iron(II) complexes [FeL3](OTf)2 (L = 2,2′-bipyridine, 2,2′-bipyrimidine, 1,10-phenanthroline and substituted derivatives) and [FeL2](OTf)2 (L = bis(2-pyridinylmethyl)amine, 2,6-di(2-pyridyl)pyridine) are competent catalysts for microwave-assisted oxidation of alcohols. Addition of some heterocyclic aminoacids as cocatalysts improved the reaction yields; the effect of such additives was studied by NMR and UV-Visible spectroscopies.123
