Abstract

π–A isotherms, transmission electron microscope (TEM), atomic force microscope (AFM) images and photoluminescence spectra of a mixed Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) film of C60 and stearic acid (SA) deposited on silicon substrate have been measured at room temperature. C60/SA nanoparticles aggregated and formed an ordered net-like structure when deposited on silicon substrate. Two PL intense bands centered at 731 and 806 nm, respectively, which are rare at room temperature, were obtained. It is supposed that the particular ordered net-like construction of the LB film plays a crucial role in the enhancement of the photoluminescence. The 731 nm PL band is related with the aggregation state of the particles and the 806 nm PL band is referred as the intrinsic PL spectrum of the C60.
