Abstract
Solid complexes of rare earth nitrates and picrates with a new amide ligand, 1,6-bis[(2â²-benzylaminoformyl)phenoxyl]hexane (L) have been prepared. These complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, UV-vis spectra and IR spectra. The fluorescent and luminescent properties of the Eu(III) and Tb(III) nitrates and picrates complexes in solid state are also investigated. Under the excitation of UV light, these complexes except Tb(III) picrate complex exhibit characteristic emission of europium and terbium ions. The influence of the counter anion on the fluorescent intensity is also discussed.
