Abstract

•We have revised manuscript taking account into both the reviewer comments.•Scheme 1, has been revised.•Figure 6. New figure is added to show plausible mechanism for both the cations.•We also incorporate new references suggested by reviewer 1.•An English correction has been made.

An efficient and highly selective colorimetric and fluorescent receptor DTPDA has been synthesized for sensitive detection of Pb2+ and Fe3+ cations. The sensor DTPDA produces a facile, cost-effective and naked eye sensing platform to determine trace amounts of Pb2+ and Fe3+ metal ions by complexation with pendent S-termini of thiophenes, which commonly coordinates to central N-termini of pyridine.
