Abstract
The first part of this article covers the basic theory of microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and cloud-point extraction (CPE). The second part comprises a critical review of applications of these sample-preparation methodologies in analysis of bioactive compounds. The article also discusses possible directions for the development of MAE and CPE methods in pharmaceutical and forensic toxicological analysis.
