Abstract
This article covers the fractionation analysis of metals in dietary samples using solid-phase extraction with ion-exchange and adsorbing resins. There are different approaches to one- and two-column fractionation protocols reported in the literature, which are characterized to provide guidance on metal partitioning and assessment of metal bioavailability. Attention is also drawn to sample pretreatment, quality assurance and quality control for metal fractionation carried out using resin-based protocols.
