Abstract
Pharmaceuticals and personal-care products are widely used around the world to maintain human and animal health. There is a growing concern that these compounds pass through sewage-treatment plants and enter the environment. We present a brief review of input by different sources, trends in either fate or analysis of pharmaceuticals, parapharmaceuticals and their metabolites in the environment.
