Abstract
Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy is applied to study the anisotropic optical parameters of molecular crystals consisting of sucrose (C12H22O11). The terahertz active vibrational modes of the crystal in the frequency range of 0.1-3.5Â THz are identified in several projection planes. Combing the data from these different planes, the orientation of the corresponding dipoles of the vibrational modes can be correlated to the single-crystal structure.
