Abstract
A compound (NH3CH2CH2NH3)HgSnS4 with a column structure was synthesized solvothermally and characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with a = 1.3863(6) nm, b=0.6640(3) nm, c=2.3198(10) nm, β=106.168(7)° and Z=8. It consists of anionic columns of [HgSnS4]â2â that are interrupted by cationic columns of [EnH2]2+. Its thermal and optical properties were studied.
