Abstract
The tap water was pretreated by activation bed of copper-zine alloy doped with rare earth. The influences of alloy on the crystal structure, property and morphology of sediment incrustation and water conductivity in the simulative steam boiler were investigated. It was shown that there was a great amount of hard scales on the heat exchange surface in the steam boiler before the water was pretreated with alloy. After the water was treated, the hard scales on the surface decreased and changed loose. Most of the scales were suspended loosely in water.
