Abstract

•STF35 nanofibers with a diameter of ~100 nm are prepared by electrospinning.•STF35 nanofibers show high conductance with activation energies of 0.31─0.40 eV.•Sensors based on STF35 nanofibers exhibit high sensitivity and fast response to oxygen.

Polycrystalline SrTi0.65Fe0.35O3 (STF35) nanofibers with a cubic perovskite structure, an average diameter of ~ 100 nm and an average grain size ~ 20 nm were prepared by electrospinning. The electrical properties of the STF35 nanofibers were investigated by impedance spectroscopy, the STF35 nanofibers showed high conductance with activation energies ranging from 0.31 to 0.44 eV. The oxygen sensing properties of the STF35 nanofibers were studied in the temperature range of 700 to 780 °C; the sensor based on STF35 nanofibers exhibited high sensitivity (response ~ 4.06 to 10%O2) and fast response (tres < 2 s to 0.1%O2) at 750 °C due to the one-dimensional nanostructure.
