Abstract
Diffuse neutron scattering from a powder AgBr was measured with a neutron diffractometer at 8, 300 and 450 K. The oscillatory diffuse scattering form showed clearly with the increase of temperature, and three peaks around 2θâ¼40°, 55° and 95° were observed at 450 K. The contribution from the correlation effects below third nearest neighboring atoms was necessary to explain the peaks of the oscillatory diffuse scattering. The influences on the diffuse scattering above third nearest neighboring atoms could be disregarded. The values of thermal correlation depended on the interatomic distance.
