Abstract
Single-phase orthorhombic LiMnO2 (o-LiMnO2) powders were synthesized by hydrothermal technique. According to the Raman spectra in the temperature range of 81–305 K and magnetic susceptibility curves in the temperature range of 2–300 K, characteristic structure model softening relates to the magnetic phase transition temperature (Tc), which could be ascribed to the coupling between lattice and spin. The abnormal temperature dependence of the Raman shift near 647, 553 and 409 cm− 1 appears in the temperature ranges of 125–275 K and 81–110 K, which could be understood in terms of spin–phonon coupling.
