The transport properties and structure of the solid solutions formed in the (100 − x) La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 (LSM)–x La0.95Ni0.6Fe0.4O3 (LNF) system were studied for the first time. The parent LSM and LNF perovskites and the solid solutions formed in the concentration ranges x < 30 and 70 ≤ x ≤ 100 exhibited a rhombohedral structure. The unit cell volume of these solid solutions decreases with increasing LNF content. Formation of a new phase with an orthorhombic symmetry was observed in the concentration range 35 ≤ x< 70. Lower transport properties of the (100 − x)LSM–xLNF, 43 ≤ x ≤ 53, compositions as compared to the parent LSM and LNF perovskites can be explained with the formation of a new phase with orthorhombic structure. The (100 − x)LSM–xLNF single phase perovskites possess metallic type of conductivity in a narrow concentration and temperature range.
