Abstract

•A 3D cobalt cluster metal–organic framework was synthesized.•Network analysis reveals that it is a (3, 6)-connected framework.•N2 gas adsorption isotherm shows that the BET is 477 m2 g−1 of 1.•At 1 bar, 1 exhibits hydrogen adsorption amount of 1.08 wt% at 77 K.•At 1 bar, the CO2 uptake of 1 is 13.7 wt% at 273 K.

A novel three-dimensional ant-type metal–organic framework, [Na0.5CoL(OH)0.5(H2O)]·G (1) (L = 5-(pyridin-4-yl)isophthalic acid, G = guest molecules), has been designed and synthesized. Singe crystal of 1 was characterized by X-ray single crystal analysis and power X-ray diffraction methods. Network analysis reveals that 1 is a two-nodal (3, 6)-connected (42.6)2(44.62.88.10). Additionally, the permanent porosity of 1 was confirmed by N2 gas adsorption investigation with the BET specific surface area of 477 m2 g−1. At 1 bar, 1 exhibits hydrogen adsorption amount of 1.08 wt% at 77 K and CO2 uptakes of 13.7 wt% at 273 K, respectively.
