Abstract
Diphenyllead(IV) bis-thiobenzoate was synthesized and characterized by spectral and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The compound crystallized in orthorhombic system with Pbcn space group. The compound did not hydrolyze in neutral medium because of low lying LUMO but hydrolyzed in acidic condition to give PbS. Thermal decomposition of the compound yielded PbS powder.
