Abstract

Reaction of MCl2·4H2O (M = Zn, Cd, Mn) with [3-(2-pyridyl)-1-pyrazolyl] acetic acid (Hpypza) produced four new M(II)/pypza complexes, [Zn(pypza)Cl]2 (1), [Cd(pypza)Cl]n (2), [Mn(pypza)Cl]2 (3), [Mn(pypza)Cl]n (4). These compounds were structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complexes 1, 3 featured dinuclear structures and complexes 2, 4 showed 1D chains. Compounds 1–4 were self-assembled to form supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonds interactions. Furthermore, the luminescence properties of 1–4 were investigated at room temperature in the solid state.
