New metal–organic coordination polymer, (Me3NH)[Fe3(μ3-O)(μ-HCOO)8]·DMF (1), was synthesized by heating of Fe(NO3)3·9H2O and [NH(CH3)3]Cl in DMF/HCOOH solution. The single-crystal X-ray structure analysis reveals this compound has 1D anionic framework structure built from Fe3O(μ-HCOO)6 cluster units linked by formate bridges. Compound 1 was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and TGA. The magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate a strong antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between FeIII ions in the cluster and intercluster magnetic interaction.
