Synthesis and structures of aryloxo- and binaphthoxogermanium(IV) alkyl iodide complexes

The reaction of the germylenes (S)-[Ge{O2C20H10-(SiMe2Ph)2-3,3′}{NH3}] and [Ge(OC6H3Ph2-2,6)2] with ButI or MeI yields the corresponding germanium(IV) compounds (S)-[Ge{O2C20H10-(SiMe2Ph)2-3,3′}{R}{I}] or [Ge(OC6H3Ph2-2,6)2(R)(I)] (R = But and Me). The tri(aryloxo)germane [Ge(OC6H3Ph2-2,6)3(Me)] was also prepared from [Ge(OC6H3Ph2-2,6)2(Me) (I)].
