Synthesis and structure of dinuclear complexes [{FeIII(L5)}b{FeIII(L5)}](BPh4)2, where L5 is a pentadentate Schiff-base ligand, b is a bidentate N-oxide bridging ligand based on bipyridine, is reported. Magnetic behavior is investigated in terms of the magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, and Mössbauer spectroscopy revealing that the complexes are high-spin over the whole temperature region.
Graphical abstractThe reaction between mononuclear Schiff-based Fe(III) complexes and N-oxide bridging ligands in presence of tetraphenylborate anions gives rise to dinuclear compounds, which were characterized by X-ray analysis and by SQUID magnetometer measurements. The magnetic properties were also studied by 57Fe Mőssbauer spectroscopy at different temperatures.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
