Preparation, crystal structure and luminescent properties of lanthanide picrate complexes with N-benzyl-2-{2′-[(benzyl-methyl-carbamoyl)-methoxy]-biphenyl-2-yloxy}-N-methyl-acetamide (L)

Lanthanide picrate complexes of the tetradentate ligand N-benzyl-2-{2′-[(benzyl-methyl-carbamoyl)-methoxy]-biphenyl-2-yloxy}-N-methyl-acetamide (L) have been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structure of the europium complex shows significant π-π stacking which is important for the formation of a two-dimensional (2-D) netlike supramolecule and thus enhance the fluorescence intensity of the complex in solid state.
