Abstract
The reaction of mercury(II) halides with a new bifunctionalized ylide in 1:1 molar ratio yielded P, C-coordinated mononuclear complexes. The result of theoretical study showed that the experimentally determined structure of the complex {HgI2(Ph2PCH2PPh2C(H)C(O)C6H4Cl)} (5) is more stable than its other bonding modes.
