Abstract
Deprotonation of the coordinated macrocyclic ligand at the nitrogen atom substantially increases reactivity of the chromium(III) complex. Specific outer sphere interactions between the cationic reactant and a counter ion of the supporting electrolyte (Scheme) determine the form of the rate law.
