Abstract

The complexes (Tpms)VCl2(DMF) (1), and (Tpms)VOCl(DMF) (2), have been synthesized and characterized. Complex 2 has also been structurally characterized via X-ray diffractometry. The vanadium(IV) center possesses a square pyramidal/distorted octahedral geometry with a facially coordinating Tpms− ligand in a κ3-N,N,O coordination mode. The complex is the first structurally characterized example of a vanadium(IV) complex with Tpms−. Complex 2 shows catalytic activity towards oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butyl catechol and also exhibits phosphatase inhibition characteristics on alkaline phosphatase. Tpms− = trispyrazolylmethanesulfonate; DMF = N,N-dimethylformamide.
