Abstract
The reaction of [Cpâ(CO)2Fe{μ-CH2CH(CH2)3}W(CO)3Cp]PF6 with NaBPh4 gave the carbocationic compound [Cpâ(CO)2Fe{μ-CH2CH(CH2)3}W(CO)3Cp]BPh4. The bond Fe-Cβ is slightly shorter than that reported for the shorter chain carbocationic complexes. Therefore, in this molecule there is a significant pyramidalization of the substituents on Cα and Cβ of the η2-coordinated hydrocarbon suggesting that, even though the Cα-Cβ appears to have double bond character, there is a stronger interaction between the metal and the carbocationic ligand in this complex than in the shorter chain complexes.
