•New double-bridged binuclear copper(II) complexes were synthesized and fully characterized.•Molecular structure of title complexes were determined by X-rays analysis.•Weak long exchange interactions were found and studied.
Three novel dinuclear copper(II) complex with spacer-armed bispicolylamidrazone ligands were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, UV–Vis and IR-spectroscopy and X-ray crystal analysis. Structural analysis demonstrated quite long distances (6–8 Å) between copper(II) ions. Despite these long distances, antiferromagnetic interaction between paramagnetic centers was found. Temperature dependences of magnetic susceptibility and EPR studies are in agreement with an antiferromagnetic dinuclear behavior in solid state yielding exchange parameters of −2J of 1.47–5.9 cm−1.
