Abstract
Based on strong ion pairing effects, further reinforced upon oxidation of the ferrocene centres to ferrocenium, self-assembled monolayers of thiol-functionalized (ferrocenylmethyl)trialkylammonium cations on gold electrodes exhibit remarkable electrochemical recognition properties towards dihydrogen phosphate and adenosine-5â²-triphosphate anions in organic electrolytes, allowing their amperometric sensing.
