Abstract
Mixed ligand mono and bimetallic ruthenium(II) complexes with N-heterocyclic tridentate ligands were prepared and studied. The bimetallic complex demonstrates that even with competitive Ïâ withdrawing ligands such as dpop', the bridging ligand tppz Ïâ orbitals are still stabilized sufficiently upon coordination that they are lower in energy than the peripheral ligand Ïâ orbitals, and could serve as an energy transfer bridge to remote fragments.
