Abstract
The cations [H2(L)]2+ and [Ni(L)]2+, L = 2RS,7SR,9SR,14RS-2,5,5,7,9,12,12,14-octamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazaacyclotetradecane, co-crystallise as a phase 0.33[H2(L)]·0.67[Ni(L)](ClO4)2, previously identified as being a configurational isomer of [Ni(L)](ClO4)2. Reaction of [H2(L)](ClO4)2 with nickel acetate is slow and crystals incorporating 5% of Ni2+ isomorphously incorporated in [H2(L)](ClO4)2 were characterised. The structures of these species, [H2(L)](ClO4)2 and of [Ni(L)](ClO4)2 at 120 K are reported.43
