Abstract
Reductions of substitution-inert complexes of iron(III) and ruthenium(III) with excess Ti(II) yield Ti(III); the Ru(III) reactions, but not the Fe(III), are catalyzed by added titanium(IV) and by fluoride, but are inhibited by H+. Rate laws are consistent with intervention of an intermediate of the type TiIITiIV(OH).
