Abstract
Dimethyl platinum(II) complexes [PtMe2(NN)] {NNÂ =Â bu2bpy (4,4â²-di-tert-butyl-2,2â²-bipyridine), bpy (2,2â²-bipyridine), phen (1,10-phenanthroline)} reacted with 3-bromo-1-propanol in the presence of 1,3-propylene oxide to give cis, trans-[PtBrMe2{(CH2)3OH}(NN)]. On the other hand, the reaction of [PtMe2(NN)] (NNÂ =Â bu2bpy, bpy) with the trace of HBr in commercial 3-bromo-1-propanol resulted in the formation of [PtBr2(NN)] or [PtBrMe(NN)] and mechanisms of these reactions have been investigated. The crystal structure of [PtBr2(bpy)] is reported.
