Abstract
Samarium iodo and terbutylate derivatives coordinated by various chiral ligands have been prepared and used in situ as new catalysts for MPV reductions of aromatic ketones. The most active catalyst is samarium terbutylate binaphtolate albeit with moderate enantioselectivity.
