Abstract

The synthesis and characterization of 1,4-dicarboxy-phenyl-2-salicyliden-imine (DPSI), a new multi-functional and tridentate ligand, is presented together with the crystal structure of its copper(II) complex. DPSI chemical groups result very attractive because of the straightforward crystal engineering applications, so that we believe this is the first among a wide gamma of materials with promising features and properties.

Graphical abstractThe new synthesized 1,4-dicarboxy-phenyl-2-salycilyden-imine acts as an intriguing ligand leading to the formation of a binuclear asymmetric copper(II) complex whose attractive 3D-structure is reported with remarks on the main packing features. Because of the possible inclusion ability joined to magnetic properties, further studies on the solid state of this complex and new parent compounds are in progress.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
