Abstract
Pd(II) ions can coordinate sulfanyl sulfur atoms both in cis (1) and trans (2) configuration. Trans coordination is energetically favoured for 3-(n-butylsulfanyl)thiophene and 4,4â²-bis(n-butylsulfanyl)-2,2â²-bithiophene. A complex of polymeric nature is formed by the latter ligand.
