A new polyoxomolybdenum compound [Mo4O12(2,2′-bpy)3]n (1) (2,2′-bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) has been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, TG analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The solid state structure is a 1D chain with a repeat unit of three corner-sharing {MoO4N2} octahedra and one {MoO4} tetrahedron.
