A novel 2D MOF material [Cd2(AmTRZ)2·I3]·(R4N+)] (1; AmTRZ = 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole, R4N+ = tetraethylammonium), with an anionic skeleton has been hydrothermally synthesized in presence of an ionic liquid, tetraethylammonium hydroxide. 1 is endowed with large helical porous channels and two cadmium metal centers with different coordination environment around them besides showing presence of an unprecedentedly ordered extra-framework layer pattern of the encapsulated Et4N+ counter cations.
Graphical abstractA novel cation templated robust 2D nanoporous cadmium-triazolate anionic framework has been synthesized in an ionic liquid medium (tetraethyl ammonium hydroxide). The 2D helical porous channels feature two different metal centers within the channel walls. The extra-framework interlayer space is ornamented by the encapsulated tetraethyl ammonium cations in tt·tt conformation.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
