Abstract

Two chlorodiorganotin(IV) complexes of 4-(2-methoxyphenyl)piperazine-1-carbodithioate (MPPDA) have been synthesized by 1:1 mole-ratio reactions of the parent acid (MPPDAH) with Me2SnCl2 or Et2SnCl2 in dry methanol. The products have been characterized by Raman and multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and mass spectrometry. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies indicate that both complexes have distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometries around the central Sn atom.
