Abstract
While the monomeric Cd[(SPMe2)2N]2 contains a tetrahedral CdS4 core, the presence of oxygen atoms attached to phosphorus favours molecular association through increased connectivity of the ligand in [Cd{(OPMe2)(SPPh2N)}2]2 (trigonal bipyramidal CdO2S3 core), [Cd2{(OPPh2)2N}4(H2O)] (octahedral CdO6 core) and K[Cd2{(OPPh2)2N}5] (CdO5 core intermediate between square pyramidal and trigonal bipyramidal).
