•The fourth CuII–azido-pyrazine complex has been synthesised and characterized.•The crystal structure display novel 3D-42.63.8-topology with 2D honeycomb layer.•The complex exhibit strong antiferromagnetic coupling.
The methyl groups of 2,3-dimethylpyrazine (2,3-DMP) in [Cu2(N3)4(2,3-DMP)]n (1) lead to the formation of a novel 3D-42.63.8-topology, which exhibits 2D honeycomb layer completed by CuII ions, di-EO and di-EE azido, and featuring strong antiferromagnetic coupling.
Graphical abstractThe fourth CuII–azido-pyrazine complex with 2,3-dimethylpyrazine displays 3D-42.63.8-topology, which featuring 2D honeycomb layer consists of doubly bridged symmetric EO- and EE-azido and featuring strong antiferromagnetic coupling.Figure optionsDownload full-size imageDownload as PowerPoint slide
