Abstract

•Quasi-binary and ternary metal fluorosulfates are reviewed.•Crystal structures are described in detail.•Vibrational spectra and characteristic spectral features are given.•Thermal stability and pathways of thermal decomposition are discussed.•Electronic and magnetic properties are focused on.

A fluorosulfate anion is an important fluoroinorganic species, and a component of many chemical compounds, some of which find valuable applications. In this review we describe the preparation, crystal structures and thermal stabilities of the previously studied metal fluorosulfate derivatives. These results are supplemented by our recent attempts to characterize fluorosulfates of In(I), Cu(I), Au(I), Cu(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Ca(II), Ga(III), In(III), and Tl(III).
