Abstract
Among four reactive channels in the initial attacking of water on sulfur atom of SF4, three of them are SN2 substitution reactions while the other one is combination reaction. The rate-determining step of the hydrolysis of SF4 has a barrier height of 22.48 kcal mol−1 to generate intermediate SF3OH. SOF2 may be further formed through the dehydrofluorination of SF3OH.
