Abstract
The platinum(II) complex of 3,6-diamine-9-[6,6-bis(2-aminohethyl)-1,6-diaminohexyl]acridine (AzaPt) is synthesised and found to bind DNA externally or by intercalation, depending on the polymer to dye ratio; in the long time range the Pt(II) ion is able to attack the nucleobases, in a manner resembling the action of anti-tumour drugs.
