•New silyl-substituted DDS derivatives were synthesized and isolated.•These compounds are soluble in a wide range of organic solvents.•The single-crystal X-ray structures of the compounds were investigated.
New sulfonyl-containing aminosilanes, 4,4′-bis(N,N′-trimethylsilyl)amino diphenyl sulfone (1) and 4,4′-bis(N,N′-dimethylvinylsilyl)aminodiphenyl sulfone (2) were synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, high-resolution mass spectrometry, as well as infrared spectra and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry. The single-crystal X-ray structures of the compounds indicate the existence of extensive intermolecular hydrogen bonding. Their photophysical properties were also investigated.
