Abstract
Low temperature protonation (−80°C) of a Pt-vinyl complex, (Tp′)Pt(CHCH2)(Me)2, generated a small amount of an ethylidene Pt complex, [(Tp′)Pt(CH(CH3)Me2][B(ArF)4] as monitored by NMR. Warming the reaction to −40°C results in reductive elimination to form a new C-C bond in a Pt(II) propylene adduct, [κ2(Tp′(NH))Pt(η2 CH2CHCH3)Me][B(ArF)4].82
