A series of CˆC*-cyclometalated platinum(II) trifluoromethyl-acetylacetonate complexes could be synthesized via a new synthetic route. They have been characterized by standard methods (NMR, EA) as well as three solid-state structures. Quantum chemical calculations on the HOMO and LUMO levels show significant differences to the previously reported acetylacetonate derivatives. The influence of the CF3-groups on the photophysical properties is studied in detail.
